The last goodbye.
My grandpa was one of the hardest workers I ever knew. Even though he had lung cancer (from mesothelioma) he kept working on the farm he had raised. He owned a dairy farm for decades and took good care of his cows, horses, and chickens. It may have been painful for him, working while he had lung cancer, but he would never disclose that, he loved working too much to do so.
On Friday, April 12 of this year, while my grandpa was working on a fence, he got a pain in his chest that was too much for him to bear. He was rushed to the hospital and on Saturday, April 13, he was released to spend time with family during his last few hours, days, or weeks. On Sunday, my parents and I visited him.
He passed away shortly after midnight.
This picture below is of my dad holding the hand of his dad, saying goodbye--not knowing he would pass away a few hours later.
This past Sunday was the first Father's Day that my dad had without a father.
