Meet Ellie. She is so kind and loving, I don't think there is a bad bone in her body. Recently, Ellie, 3 other girls, and I took a nice little trip to California. It was such a blast. I'll post photos from that trip once I get them developed. You see, I have this thing where if I go somewhere and take photos that I don't get the photos developed until a few months after returning from the trip. Don't ask why, if you did the response would be, "I don't know."

I'm so excited to share the rest of these sessions with you in the coming weeks. I love how all of these photos turned out, and of course it's not because of anything I've done. All people, like these girls, are naturally beautiful and I have the privilege of capturing that beauty on film.

Utah Family Photography

This little girl loves to imitate others. Even if they are doing something silly. After all, the silly moments are the most fun to imitate. (To give you some info, it is a toy they are placing on each other's heads). These kind of connections are so fun to photograph, maybe because I'm chuckling behind the camera as they play, or because the love is just so evident that I'm turning to goo as I watch from behind a lens.

A Peek

This isn't the typical photo that you would print out and place in your house, but it is so full of love and connection. A grandma on the floor with her granddaughter. You can see that there is some kind of connection there, even if I hadn't stated it. The rest of the photos will be posted soon.

WPPI 2014

Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) was organized for the special interests and needs of these photographers. (To read more about WPPI go here.) WPPI held its first convention in 1980 and has continued have conventions annually.

Little over a week ago I had the opportunity to attend the 34th annual WPPI Convention. I saw almost everything about the industry. From camera sellers, film makers, and camera bags to photo editing, film processing, and printing varieties, I saw it all.

I was only able to attend the expo, but it was amazing. Especially Richard Photo Lab's personal interviews. They brought in a myriad of people from photographers to bloggers and asked questions to prompt inspiring and encouraging answers. The interview I really wanted to attend was of Jose Villa. The wedding photographer head honcho. Seriously, this guy does everything beautiful, travels the world, has his work shown in Martha Stewart weddings (you see how big a deal he is?!), and you can see his work here.

The most piece of advice he gave that struck me the most is to make everything reflect what my business (Shaylee Photography) is. And in thinking about this I realized that I already do. My business is about connections between people. Check out my instagram (which is really the only other source of mine-- non-business directed-- that is on the web), it is all about my connections with other people, especially my family. These connections are what I cherish and what I photograph.
