Contax 645, kodak tri-x
I'm so grateful that I got to participate in a photo-a-day project for the first half of the summer. For this project, I had to photograph landscape each day for two months. Trying to think of something unique to photograph each day for two months is challenging! I'm not a landscape photographer, I'm a people photographer. Taking the intention away from human interaction, personality, and connection was so difficult for me. However, the challenge was very rewarding.
The challenge taught me about my equipment, my style, and even taught me a bit about my own personality and some personal hardships I've had.
I learned a lot about my Contax 645. I haven't had the camera for very long, but I used the camera every day for two months; doing this helped me to understand the camera. It helped me see what a great choice I made in transitioning to medium format from 35mm. I understand that the medium format camera is not for every style, but now I don't think I could live without my contax!
The photo-a-day challenge also helped me to see the type of landscape photography I can fit into. As you, my dear followers and readers, have probably been able to see, I do not do well with grand landscapes. You know, grassy fields with towering mountaings and fluffy clouds; that great scene, when put into my hands, just turns into a very blah picture. But give me a flower, a leaf, or a blooming bush, and I'll bring out qualities in nature you may never have known about or noticed.
In finding my landscape niche, I learned about a small part of my personality. But that doesn't need to be shared here.
Anyways, I am very grateful for the photo-a-day project and everything I was able to learn from it!
